It seems that in the South, that Nature has a way of relieving the intense pressures of heat by stimulating a severe thunder storm. Last night, I attended a baby shower that took place outside in the elements of such a storm. The event took place under the shelter of an open gazebo that stands at the gate of the Neuse River. We watched as a large flock of happy sea birds flapped their wings in the grass while they enjoyed being pelted with heavy rain-- but we humans got drenched and we were not in our element! Lightning flashed and thunder cracked all around us and we just stood there being drenched with cold rain.
It was very foolish to be there, but high fun!
(PS-In the South, there is a fine distinction in weather terminology. Trivia what is the difference between a frog strangler and a mullet blow!)?
