"Lawson's Landing" at the new History Center

Lawson's Landing

This is a wonderful place to get away for lunch.  I ordered the chicken salad wrap (made with mandarin orange slices) and the chips with hummus as a side.  The luncheon plate was generous and scrumptious.  The staff was attentive and friendly.

Mother got the turkey and cheese on sourdough with a side of chili soup.  She claimed it to be scrumptious. The best tasting pick of our lunch, however, was the warm macaroni and cheese that Sister got as a side with her chicken wrap. I tasted of it and it's over the top.

Wine is on the menu and it was obvious that someone is drinking it but I wonder just when and how?  The little cafe closes on weekdays at 5:00 and on weekends at 6:00.  Who has time for wine drinking during those hours?

Somebody, I guess.

Good place.  Highly recommended.

I was just thinking how nice a place it would be to have lunch when we went to a reception at the History Center the other day. Macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite Guilty Pleasures! Thanks for the review.

Some insider info... not many patrons come out on theses dark cold evenings - thus why the cafe closes as 5 pm with the museum's hours. In the spring when the days are longer, it will stay open in the evenings. It will be a perfect spot to sip wine or drink a beer while watching the sunset on the Trent!

Please think twice about eating here. Review their grade, 94. I checked the report online and it is due to foods not being held at the correct temps. I will not visit here until the sanitation improves.
