Called to the pavement on Johnson Street or How this blog began

This is the short, strange story of how this blog began!

 

On a recent steamy twilight eve while walking in New Bern on Johnson Street,  I noticed a strange formation of what looked like the outline of a human form etched into the sidewalk on the north side of the street.

That's when I remembered that the Duel of 1802, which resulted in the death of a North Carolina Governor, occurred on Johnson Street, not so very far from the historical marker which was the designated spot where the Duel occurred. 

I seemed to detect an irony!

That's how the subtle links of history began to kick in to my conscious mind & that's how this blog began.
